First Playable

I downloaded a assets pack from the asset store called 'citizen of the forest'. I thought this pack would be handy so as I could add some buildings with detail like for instance to add different set's of furniture. I was thinking maybe I could add into my game where the player can take a nap in the bed to gain health back.

I then downloaded some asset's from Jimmy Vegas's site. I used his package with the tree's and grass. I Decided to go with this as I've used these asset's before so I know they work good.

I Downloaded a gun from the asset store and attached it to the FPS controller by watching a Jimmy Vegas tutorial on YouTube. His tutorial show's how to attach an axe to a player so I'm going to have to find one where it shows me how to make a gun shoot. I have been making my game between two different computer's which have different version's of unity and i keep getting error's here and there which is very annoying so I'm just hoping it doesn't effect my game too much.

I find myself working at a slow pace with my game, but it's because trying to find the right tutorial's can take up a lot of time as well as trying to get everything to work right. I had downloaded another few assets but couldn't get them working so I had wasted time trying to find a nice looking asset.

  1. Hey Chloe,
Your game looks so good its really cool I like the atmosphere of it and the mood so far. The assets store comes in handy so much but I have had the small problem where I will be looking for ages for a certain asset I want find it download it and it is nowhere to be seen it is very very frustrating. I like how the gun is now connected to the first person controller, the jimmy Vegas tutorial do come in handy at times, Im the exact same though when I'm looking for tutorials for my game half of the time I'm not even sure what I'm looking for and it takes me absolutely ages to find the right ones that will work and benefit my game. Your game is coming along great and I'm looking forward to playing it in the future, great blog post :)

  3. Hi Chloe,
Your game is looking like its really taking some shape at this stage. I really like your game idea and it looks like its going to be a great finished project! I've had a few problems with the asset store where I've searched for hours and not found a free version of what Im looking for. The Jimmy Vegas tutorials have helped me so much throughout making my game so Im glad there working for you too! The layout of your terrain looks great and the surroundings have a lot of really good detail. I like the idea of first person shooter as well. Im really looking forward to playing your game when its finished, keep up to good work :)

  4. Hi Chloe, your game looks really good so far, the asset store can be really handy but it's annoying sometimes how long you can spend looking for stuff that still might not work with your game. Looks like you figured it all out thought the guns and trees and everything look like they fit in perfectly! I'm the same with using Jimmy Vegas his tutorials are so handy and easy to follow. I also feel the same about how fast I'm getting through my game it's hard and you don't anticipate all the time you'll spend on each small little thing. Your game looks amazing though can't wait to see it at the end

  5. Hey Chloe,
Your game looks pleasing so far! I get that its hard finding the right tutorials for the things you want in games especially because most of them are fairly long winded which can be frustrating as you need to just find the answer to one question! Hopefully you learn how to make the game shoot, I like the actual environment of the game so far, it looks very like the sims game in terms of lay out,the overall area looks nice however because the house is so modern I think you should make the terrain it's on look like a path or cement and then gradually phase it out into trees so it look more normal and suit it surroundings. If you do get your gun functioning maybe you could look at other guns you could download, it would be cool for the player to be able to switch out as guns in real life would eventually run out of bullets so you could implement that into your game, Good luck anyway with the rest!

Introduction to me

Well....my name is Chloe Traynor, I am from Wicklow and live up in the mountains in the middle of no where. I did a 2 year multimedia plc course in Blackrock to get into the second year of this course. I've been into computers since I was very young as one of my older brothers was a techy guy and showed me the ways.  I went on a J1 to the USA for the summer with 2 of my friends and it was the best experience of my life so far. you meet so many new people not just from America but from all over the world like Bulgaria, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia. We worked in South Carolina for 2 and a half months working in a restuarant where every one was super friendly and loved us just cause we were Irish. we then went travelling all along the east coast of America to Washington DC, Philadelphia and finishing off in New York. we seen everything there was to see in each of the states and by the end in New York we tried not to blow all our money so we just lived off of the euro saver menu in

Description It start's off with you wake up in the wilderness with nothing so must venture your way around the map to collect different item's such as wood, a gun, ammo, health packs etc. with some of these item's you can kill the dangerous animal's before they kill you. With wood you can make a small little base to keep safe, or to even build a path way up onto a mountain. If you find a health pack it will restore all of your health if you have taken damage from something. Your health bar will be visible on the screen as well as the amount of ammo you have. The longer the game goes on the harder it will be to survive as the danger's become more frequent. You will be able to find different weapons across the map. There will be thing's such as a building that will be guarded by security and will try to kill you if yo
